Mark Lindsay and Ian Crutchley have built an extensive dental care team, commited to maintaining excellent clinical standards and patient comfort.

Ian Crutchley

Ian Crutchley has been qualified for over twenty years,  practicing in Downpatrick since 1989. He enjoys providing an extremely wide range of treatments. His main areas of interest are implant dentistry, orthodontics, root canal treatment and cosmetic dentistry. He also provides facial line softening treatment complimentary to dentistry. Ian has a wealth of experience providing gentle care for dentally phobic patients. When he is not practicing dentistry he “fails miserably at keeping the garden tidy” and “goes to the gym under duress”.

Mark Lindsay

Mark Lindsay qualified from QUB in 1980, he has been providing dental care in Downpatrick since 1983. In 1993 he went into partnership with Ian Crutchley. There are now several associate dentists and two hygienists in the team. In 1997 Mark converted his adult patients to Denplan and in 1998 was involved in developing the “Denplan Excel Accreditation Programme”. The practice is now “Denplan Excel Accredited”. His areas of interest are in cosmetic dentistry and preventative treatment.

James Curran

Having qulaified from Queen’s, James started his dental career in Belfast in 1999. Two years later Ian Crutchley lured him back to his home town and he has been here ever since. He says, “Being an associate at such a large practice has given me experience in all aspects of dentistry. The high standard of the materials, equipment and staffing allows me to provide a service of which I am very proud. I believe in treating the patient as an individual and tailoring their treatment to meet their needs. No two patients or treatments are ever the same. If you’re keen to stop me talking about teeth just ask me about my beautiful wife, my beautiful daughter or cars.  I can go on for hours about all three.”

John Bohill

Originally from Downpatrick, John Bohill has been practicing dentistry for over 25 years. His experience in delivering high quality dental care saw him take up positions in Saudi Arabia, Harley Street London and Head of Dental Services at the International Clinic in Kuwait.  He returned to Northern Ireland in 2002 to join the team at Downe in the Mouth. He specialises in family orientated preventative dentistry and cosmetic treatments.

Tracey McMullan

Tracey was born and brought up in Downpatrick. After graduating from Queen’s University, Belfast in 1991, she began her career in West Belfast. She joined Dr Mark Lindsay’s Practice as an associate in March 1993, before he set up Downe in the Mouth dental practice with Dr Ian Crutchley later that year, making Tracey our longest serving associate. She offers a comprehensive range of treatments to all her patients. She says, “My aim is to provide patrients with a dental experience which is as gentle and painless as possible.”

Dental Hygienists

Lynne McLean

Lynne qualified from Glasgow Dental Hospital in 1994. Since then she has worked as a hygienist, and is also involved in dental research part-time. Lynne is currently Chairperson of the Northern Ireland Branch of the British Dental Hygienists Association. She regularly attends lectures and courses in the interest of continuing education, and keeping up-to-date with the ongoing changes in dentistry.

Laura Ballantine

Laura qualified  from Queen’s Universtity with a diploma in dental hygiene. She is a member of both the British and Irish Hygienist Associations and continues to broaden and update her knowledge through postgraduate courses. She providesa full preventative dental care service and has an in-depth knowledge of treating gum disease. In her leisure time Laura enjoys “going to the gym and socialising” but not at the same time.
